Welcome to our group!!!

Light Propagation and Photonics Group (Lp2g) is a research group from the OptMA Lab, held in the School of Engineering at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Our research activities are based on applied and computational electromagnetism as a major topic, divided into two lines, (1) Photonic devices for sensors, biosensors, plasmonics, all-optical digital circuits and systems, Nonlinear Optics, Opto-mechanics, Opto-electronics, Acoustic-optics, and telecommunications devices and systems, and (2) Microwave Impedance Microscopy (MIM) for sub-nanometric imaging.

We aim to converge our expertise to evaluate how we can contribute from the academy to improve a broad spectrum of applications in the real world. In this sense, we look to stimulate a multidisciplinary environment and bring together people with varied profiles and interests for research and education.

  • News

  • 02/2024 - On 25/03 our student Reinaldo Velasquez, satisfactorily defended his Master's dissertation, entitled "Microwave-based Complementary Split-Ring Resonator for Detection of Variations in Aqueos Media," as a requirement to obtain the Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in the Electrical Engineering Graduate Program at UFMG. Congratulations!!!!

  • 02/2024 - MOST RECENT PAPER: This paper investigates the impact of graphene on tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) by developing an electromagnetic characterization of the TERS-graphene device system. This work was published in Optics Letters (OPTICA Publishing Group) and highlighted as an Editor's Pick.!!!!
